
Two people were killed, and 13 people were still missing after 13 people collided head-on with two ships in the Akde community in the Sagbama State Government Area of Sagbama.
Sources told Daily trust The incident took place on Tuesday evening, April 1, 2025 and involved a speed boat carrying passengers from the Eropa community in southern Iya and a fishing boat.
Sources said some divers have rescued any missing passengers in the water.
He said a speedboat called Marine Marine, powered by a 115hp engine and operated by a man identified as Saturday when he headed from Anyama Ijaw to Rubya and Foropa communities when it collided with a fishing boat in Akede Community Waterfront.
The incident was confirmed as chairman of the Nigerian Maritime Workers Union, Comrade Ogoniba Ipigansi of Nigeria, said 13 passengers had not been found.
Comrade Ipigansi said the union was warned, adding that communication challenges hindered their rescue operations due to poor networks in the region.
