A 21-year-old hairdresser, Jessie James, was treated for chemical burns in Trinidad and Tobago after she was attacked by two women who spit acid with a man she knew.
Jessie’s aunt Galia Noel spoke with Guardian Media on Saturday, March 1, 2025 (pictured) and confirmed that a woman who asked to date a Belmont-style hair contacted her niece.
James was reportedly encountered by a woman on Wednesday who identified herself as a relative of the appointed person and brought her to the track she faced.

During the dispute, the woman accused James of talking to a man they knew and threw two steamed cups containing an unknown liquid. Then they ran away.
Noel said her niece told her she screamed for help and was assisted by two women who took her to the Spanish Port Hospital, which she continued until yesterday.
Noel said she felt deeply hurt by the incident, describing her niece as a “gentle, soft soul” that should not be subjected to such violence.
“Both eyes were affected, and the softer parts of the lips and face were affected,” she said.
“Her eyes were bruised outside and she couldn’t open them for too long, but when she did, you’d see the raised eyes and they were both very red.
“She could see one eye, but it was a little blurry, but she couldn’t see the other eye at all.”
Noel said she was very disappointed that the woman would be attacking another woman so viciously.
“Whoever does it is a hypocrite because they try to harm another woman. Even if they accused her of being true, they have no decision to have a civilized conversation and they attacked her in the most terrifying way because it could be worse.”
Noel said police issued a statement to her Thursday afternoon.
