Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on Monday, January 24 that Ukraine has signed 28 security agreements with its partners, according to the President’s News Agency.
Speaking at the event for the anniversary of the Three Years War, Zelenskyy suggested that these agreements could serve as the basis for European security assurances.
Among the guests commemorating the third anniversary of the Ukrainian crisis since Russia invaded the country three years ago are European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, European Council President Antonio Costa, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Spanish Prime Minister Ped Ronaldo Sanchez.
“On this preliminary basis, we must work together to create an effective and adequate assurance system to ensure just and lasting peace in Ukraine and Europe as a whole,” he said.
Zelenskyy said the agreement covering defense, financial and political cooperation aims to prevent the Ukrainian crisis from expanding, calling for increased defense cooperation.
He stressed the need to develop Ukrainian air defenses in order to create the “foundation of the new European Air Force shield”.
