    This is the University of Sussex Vice-Chancellor’s International Scholarships 2023 – Applications Open. Interested and qualified candidates should review the scholarship guide below to learn about eligibility, requirements, and how to apply.

    The University of Sussex Vice-Chancellor’s International Scholarships are available at most schools at the University of Sussex and are awarded on the basis of academic performance and potential to international and EU students who have applied for and been awarded a qualifying full-time Master’s degree at the University of Sussex.

    There are a limited number of scholarships available to international applicants. These are highly competitive and only applicants with outstanding academic achievement and potential will be considered. If you have performed well to date, you can apply for a scholarship upon receiving an offer to study a qualifying Bachelor’s or Master’s degree at the University of Sussex in 2023.

    Eligible and ineligible students for the University of Sussex Vice-Chancellor’s International Scholarship must be:

    Eligible students must be:

    • Classified as “overseas” for fee purposes
    • Full-time Master’s degree from September 2023
    • Responsible for self-financing
    • Have excellent academic performance

    Not eligible for this scholarship

    You will not be eligible to apply for the following reasons

    • If you are applying for a Masters degree at a university other than the University of Sussex
    • If you are entering your final year at Sussex Integrated Masters
    • If you are taking an online course
    • If you already hold another University of Sussex Scholarship (i.e. Vice-Chancellor’s Master’s Scholarship)
    • If you are studying one of these Excluded courses Listed below.

    The excluded courses are as follows:

    • Certificates and Diplomas (including PGCE)
    • Brighton and Sussex Medical School (BSMS) courses
    • Master of Development Studies
    • Early Education (with early years teacher status)
    • Master’s DegreeGlobalization, Business and Development
    • Master in Governance, Development and Public Policy
    • Power, Participation and Social Change MA
    • Master in Poverty and Development
    • Social work degree (if awarded NHS bursary)
    • Online courses
    • Courses taught directly by schools
    • Masters courses funded by research councils (e.g. ESRC 1+3 funding)

    National and minimum grade requirements

    Brazil 8.5/10 or 4.5/5.0
    Chile 5.5 – 5/8 depending on university
    India 60% – 75% depending on university
    Japan GPA 3.5
    Mexico 8.5/10 or 85%
    Nigeria First Class/CGPA 3.5
    Pakistan 4-year bachelor’s degree, with an overall score of no less than 75% / Master’s degree, with an overall score of no less than 65%
    Peru 14 or 16/20
    turkey GPA 3.3
    USA GPA 3.5

    What does the University of Sussex Vice-Chancellor’s International Scholarship cost cover?

    Your tuition fees cover the costs of your education, including teaching and exams. Your fee does not include:

    Placement and study abroad fees

    If you are an undergraduate student starting in the 2022/23 or 2023/24 academic year, you will need to pay:

    • If the internship lasts for one year, 20% of the tuition fee during the internship period
    • If the internship lasts less than one year, the normal tuition fee applies.

    These costs will change based on changes in government policy, and you should purchase insurance if you are interning abroad.

    If you study abroad, you will also need to pay different fees.

    How to pay the fee

    If you are an undergraduate student and you:

    • Have a student loan, paid directly to Sussex
    • Without student loans, you can pay your fees in full or in two or three installments.

    If you are a Master or Ph.D. As a student, you must pay your fees in full at the beginning of each academic year, or in instalments if you are self-funding.

    You can pay for:

    • When you register online or through your Sussex Direct account
    • Call the Student Accounting Office
    • If you make an international payment, please go through the Convera portal.

    If you have a Sussex scholarship and are eligible for a fee waiver or fee reduction, this will show in your Sussex Direct account.

    You may need to provide additional evidence to the Student Accounting Office if you meet the following criteria:

    • sponsored
    • Can’t see your student loan payments in your student account
    • Have a career development loan.

    How to apply for the University of Sussex Vice-Chancellor’s International Scholarship

    To be considered for a Chancellor’s International Scholarship, you need to receive and accept an offer from an eligible course at Sussex. You need to apply for your course via March 1, 2023 Guaranteed scholarship (excluding meeting other eligibility criteria).

    Chancellor’s International Scholarship will Open Apply to April 12, 9 a.m. (GMT) 2023 and will automatic shutdown exist April 26, 2023 23:59 pm (GMT).

    The scholarship application will ask you to-

    • Personal details – such as applicant number, name and email address.
    • Education details – If you are studying or have completed your studies, your expected or final grades.
    • A supporting statement of 500 words (max) answering the following question –

    “Describe your academic achievements to date and your ambitions for the future. Why should you receive this scholarship, and what impact will receiving it have on your studies at Sussex and your return home?”

    Successful applicants will need to ensure that they have made plans or raised sufficient funds to cover the remaining tuition fees and living costs during their degree.
