Jose Mourinho defeated Galatasaray boss Okan Buruk in three matches in the fiery Istanbul Derby on Wednesday, April 2 to pinch Galatasaray boss’s nose. After approaching Burruck from behind, Mourinho seemed to pinch the nose of the number opposite him. Buruk, 51, then fell to the floor and covered his face with his hands. The Professional Football Discipline Committee said they have considered Burruck’s actions, resulting in a reduction in Mourinho’s suspension. Mourinho, 62, was also fined 292,500 Turkish lira (5,955). Mourinho will now miss a major Turkish super LIG match against Trabzonspor, Sivasspor and Kayserispor, while his side leader Galatasaray scored six points. Fenerbahce announced Buruk’s actions “seemed to have been shot” before accusing him of making “disrespectful gestures” to provoke Mourinho. Mourinho’s assistant Salvatore Foti put a four-game ban on “insulting the opposing teammates” while Fenerbache midfielder Mert Yandas was sent out a game during downtime Fracas. Despite his role in the post-match defeat, Finnabas abandoned the weight in Mourinho, saying they were “not playing the old rules here.” Board member Fethi Pekin told Sky Sports: “Morlinho represents the club’s goal. Ambition, courage and desire to win. “He doesn’t think losing is an option. “He’s not coaching football for 90 minutes here. He builds a culture of victory here, which sometimes means facing provocations, speaking loudly and standing firmly. “What’s happening in the derby lately is more than just football games. It’s a well-planned effort to inspire our bench, our teams, players and managers. Mourinho reacted in his own fire and violated the people who refuse to be intimidated. Let me say very, very, very clearly that, like the Fenerbahce board, we’re completely behind Mourinho. “We didn’t hire Mourinho to adapt to the system. “We hired him to raise the bar. Raising the bar will make people uncomfortable. Good. We are not playing here by the old rules. “Post update: Jose Mourinho hit three games, grabbed the nose of the Galatasaray coach, first appeared on the Linda Ikeji blog.
