Marjorie Taylor Greene, the U.S. representative of the Georgia Republican, sparked controversy after asking a British journalist from Sky News, “Why don’t you come back?”
The confrontation began when reporters tried to ask questions about signal group chats, which leaked military plans to strike Houthi targets.
When the reporter asked her this question, Greene was obviously frustrated and replied: “We don’t look down on your opinions and reports. Why don’t you go back to your country?”
She pointed out the journalist, who was sure she was Britain.
She continued to question journalists’ interest in the United States and its national security. “You should care about your boundaries. Let me tell you something, do you care about the people in your country?” Green asked reporters.
The Georgia representative then made an uneasy comment, saying: “Where are all the women raped by immigrants, do you care?”
This is not the first time Green has made such a comment. In 2022, she made similar remarks to British journalist Siobhan Kennedy from Channel 4. However, the confrontation with Sky News reporters has attracted great attention, especially when the C-Span camera captures the communication.
To shift the focus to the debate, Green called an American journalist, who tried to shift the discussion to the issue of British journalists.
“I don’t answer her questions because I don’t care about her network,” Green said.
Instead, she shifted her focus to U.S. military security and Trump’s approach to border control.
Green said: “You want to know that you ignore operational security altogether?
Holy crap! Mawie Taylor Greene just demolished a foreign fake news reporter
“We won’t talk nonsense about your comments or your reports.
Why don’t you go back to a country where you have major immigration problems? ” 🍿😁🇺🇸Share! pic.twitter.com/0fcfljn4yc
