
Edo State Police Command has arrested a member of a local alert man in Benin City, allegedly a craftsman named Lasan Osaze Erhabor, and after falsely posting his thief onto the thief, setting up He took his body.
Command spokesman Moses Yamu revealed this in a statement in the city of Benin on Sunday, February 23, 2025.
Yamu said the suspect was arrested by agents from the Textile Factory Road Department after receiving a call from the public in distress at around 8 a.m. on February 20, 2025.
According to him, the DPO, who is in charge of the textile mill road department, received a call in distress at 8 a.m. on Thursday, February 20, 2025, and they saw the dazzling body of a middle-aged man covered with wood chips.
“The DPO mobilized and deployed its operators to the site and actually found the body burning under wood chips,” the statement said.
“They took the body to the hospital, but they found the back of the deceased’s neck injured.
“The investigation has begun and we have a suspect in custody, when the incident happened was a security officer at the sawmill.”
Yamu said the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for in-depth investigations and ensure that by the end of the investigation, the suspect will be charged with murder.
According to the gathering, the deceased had earlier disagreements with local alert members.
On the days of fate, the deceased is said to return home late at night with his friends when the suspect caught them on the road near the sawmill.
The suspect was allegedly armed with a double barrel gun and the cause of the deceased was said to have been questioned.
The suspect also allegedly labeled the deceased’s thief and accused him of stealing from the sawmill.
It was further learned that during the interrogation, the suspect took out a gun and shot the deceased at D3ATH.
He was said to have dragged the dead from the roadside to the sawmill, where he allegedly collected wood chips and burned his body.
