Senator Adolphus Wabara, former Senate President and Chairman (BOT), of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), said that the PDP will restore its advantage in the Southeast before the 2027 election.
In an interview with Vanguard, Wabara actively spoke about the party’s prospects in the region, especially after the return of Labour’s (LP) governor candidate Chijioke Edeoga in 2023.
“Edeoga’s return is a bold step and I praise him.” Wabala said he pointed out the move to show PDP growth in the southeast. He believes that by the 2027 general election, the party will regain control of the area that was once a stronghold.
Wabara acknowledged that some Southeast states previously under PDP control had lost other parties in other political parties during the 2023 elections, but he stressed the party’s recovery, citing the increasing number of victimized members returning to the issue.
Naija News It was reported that he expressed optimism that these returns combined with the unification of the party would position the PDP to have a significant impact on the upcoming elections.
“Southeast will return to its PDP root and by 2027 we will reclaim what we lost.” He added that it reflects his belief that the region will once again become a bastion of support for the party.
Wabara also praised the exemplary leadership of Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah and the positive impact of his development plans, which have played a crucial role in undermining the opposition forces in the state.
“Governor Mba has raised governance to a higher level and sets pace in various areas,” Vabala said. He noted that MBAH’s success helped promote PDP and become a reliable party that provides good governance.
“When a leader shows this ability, the reasonable thing the opposition has to do is support him.” Wabala added that stressed the importance of Mba leadership in strengthening the area’s foothold.
The PDP Robot Chairman also praised PDP lawmakers for their efforts at the national and state levels, praising their contribution to repositioning the party by 2027. Wabala called on all former members to return after the 2023 elections and help rebuild the party.
“Democracy is under siege in Nigeria, but PDP remains a reliable alternative for 2027. We focus on strengthening the party before the next election,” He asserted.
Wabara insists that Nigerians are increasingly seeking PDP leadership and the party is working tirelessly to restore its position as the country’s dominant political force.
