WAEC has released the results of the 2024 Second West African Higher School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).

The West Africa Examinations Commission (WAEC) has officially released the results of the 2024 Series 2 of Private Candidates.
According to a statement by AG’s head of public affairs, Moyosola Adesina, a total of 65,023 candidates took the exam, of which 43,923 candidates (67.55%) had scored credit and at least five of them above.
The results showed outstanding performance, especially 34,878 candidates (53.64%), who received credit and above in five subjects including English and mathematics.

This is a significant improvement over previous years, with a significant increase of 9.35% compared to the results in 2022 and 2023.
The exam features paper and pen and computer models and is conducted at 5,067 centers in the country.
Of those participating, 31,504 were male and 33,519 female, marking a slight lead in the gender distribution of women at 51.55%.
WAEC confirmed that the results of 62,354 candidates (95.90%) have been adequately processed and released, while 2,669 candidates (4.10%) are still awaiting results due to errors in their submission attribution.

In addition, 2,577 candidates (3.96%) were retained due to allegations of malfeasance in exams.
Candidates with retained results can visit the WAEC Examination Malpractice Portal to make official statements about these allegations.
According to the Council, its commitment to ensuring a fair and transparent examination process remains evident as it continues to support candidates throughout the examination process, including candidates with special needs.
WAEC initiates exams for Wassce candidates in January 2025
The West African Examinations Commission (WAEC) has proposed an innovative initiative that will allow candidates to be reiterated in their West African Advanced School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) paper as early as January and February 2025.
WAEC Public Affairs Director John Kapi revealed in an exclusive interview with Joynews on the AM Show in Ghana that the new plan – calling Wassce PC1 – will enable candidates to register to replay the exam and sit down for them on January 24 . , 2025.
