New information has emerged about the final days of Nigerian evangelist Bunmi Annaanu, widely known as “oje ojumi”, who will leave a hospital in Lagos on Monday, January 12, 2026.
Lanre Alewilese, a close friend and collaborator of the late singer, has given a heartfelt account of her final moments. He revealed that Omije Ojumi was unable to speak or open her eyes in the weeks before her death, underscoring the seriousness of her condition.
Alevières explained that he chose not to reveal her deteriorating health to the public to avoid unnecessary suffering for fans. He added that it was very difficult to see her in such pain and sharing the latest news would not bring any hope.
He said in Yoruba:
“…In the last few weeks before Omije Ojumi died, she could neither open her eyes nor speak. I kept her condition secret because there were no positive reports. I did not want to cause unnecessary concern. Watching her struggle was heartbreaking…”
The 46-year-old gospel singer spent months praying for divine intervention to cure her illness. A video of her praying for recovery was widely shared, drawing attention and prayers from fans across the country.
