The World Boxing Organization (WBO) has officially ordered Oleksandr Usyk to defend Joseph Parker for his WBO heavyweight title in a mandatory round.
The two combatants had 30 days to complete the agreement before the WBO initiated the wallet bidding process.
Joseph Parker’s Rise: From Loser to Title Contender
Joseph Parker, 33, of New Zealand, has re-established his heavyweight contender.
His second-round knockout against Martin Bakole in February secured his position as a temporary WBO champion and extended his winning streak to six games.
Notably, his recent successes include defeating former WBC champion Deontay Wilder.

Parker is no stranger to the WBO title, winning the game against Andy Ruiz Jr. in 2016 and successfully defending the game before losing to Anthony Joshua in 2018.
Parker rebuilds his career after a setback against Joe Joyce in 2022, making a strong case for another title.
👑USYK’s heavyweight domination: Can Parker stop him?
Oleksandr Usyk remained unbeaten at the age of 38 (23-0, 14 KO) and has WBC, WBA (Super) and WBO heavyweight titles.
His back-to-back victory over Tyson Fury, the latest win in December 2024, cementing his dominance in the department.
The last few USYK battles took place in Saudi Arabia, which has become the home of heavyweight conflicts.
His two wins against anger were staged in Riyadh, further enhancing the region’s reputation as a boxing hub.
⚖️Heavyweight board: What will happen next?
When Usyk and Parker were in talks, another major contender was lurking – Britain’s Daniel Dubois.
The IBF heavyweight champion was originally scheduled to face Parker on February 22, but quit due to illness.
Dubois did not reschedule, but was in an undisputed title battle with Usyk.
Dubois’ recent wins, including a knockout round against Jarrell Miller and a shutdown of Filip Hrgovic, positioned him as a serious threat to the department.
However, with the WBO now prioritizing Parker, the timeline of USYK’s conflict with Dubois remains uncertain.
🥊 Countdown begins: Who will prevail?
As negotiations officially begin, boxing fans are eager to see if Usiek will continue to rule, or if Parker can restore his former glory.
Parker’s camp was led by coach Andy Lee, who believes his youth, strength and hunger gave him a reasonable shot at Usyk (Boxing News 24) in Deslom.
As the 30-day deadline approaches, expectations are built to reshape the heavyweight landscape.
Will Parker complete his redemption story, or will Usyk consolidate his greatest legacy in history as boxing?
