Naija News The report said President Tinubu’s administration will train youths in digital literacy, technical skills, entrepreneurship and creative industries.
As a special country with a median of 17, Nigeria is one of the youngest populations in the world, the president said on Monday when formally launching the Nigerian Youth Academy (NIYA) in the parliamentary chamber of the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Monday.
Launch on behalf of the vice president Kashim ShettimaTinubu said Niya will focus on three key areas, namely education and skills development, economic capability, and leadership and civic engagement.
“Through training in world-class digital literacy, technical skills, entrepreneurship and creative industries, we will ensure that our youth are capable of competing on the global stage.
“Initiatives such as the Youth Investment Fund and the Youth Enterprise Cluster Presidential Initiative will provide financial support, guidance and resources for young entrepreneurs, while the establishment of the National Youth Development Bank will ensure access to the capital needed to transform ideas into prosperous businesses.” He said.
He explained that Nia was a bold response to Nigeria’s low human capital index ranking, unemployment and other obstacles to U.S. progress and ensured that over the next two years, the academy will train and empower millions of young Nigerians.
The President noted that the security of the country’s human capital cannot be guaranteed unless a solid, skill-driven learning environment is created, and his government has also made great progress in the country’s human capital development agenda.
“However, we must acknowledge the ongoing challenges. Nigeria’s human capital index ranking remains below its potential, with youth unemployment and learning poverty posing key barriers to progress.
“These statistics are not only numbers; they reflect a disruption in life, a deferred dream, an undetermined future. The Nigerian Youth Academy is our commitment to changing this narrative.
“The Nigerian Youth Academy will develop the next generation of leaders and train them in governance, policy making and community development. We believe that the success of this initiative is not only in Abuja, but in communities that feel truly change. He said.
