
The federal government has recruited elite foreign military experts to train its soldiers to conduct counter-terrorism and hostage rescue.
Defense Minister Badaru Abubakar disclosed this when he launched a training program for 800 soldiers in Kaduna State.
Abubakar said that in addition to training, the government will also equip the troops with modern technology and weapons to enhance their ability to combat security threats across the country.
For the first phase of the program, 800 soldiers will be trained and another 800 will be followed. The minister explained that the decision to interact with foreign experts was a necessary condition to combat the evolving strategies of terrorist organizations.
Although he did not disclose the countries that provide military experts in a particular country, he confirmed that they were drawn from seven different countries.
“In the initial stage alone, 2400 Nigerian soldiers will receive special training before the program enters the second stage”. He revealed
