Governor Siminalayi Fubara responded to the state of emergency declared by President Bola Tinubu in the river.
During state broadcast Tuesday night, Tinob announced a suspension of Governor Forbala and his agents, as well as the Rivers State Capitol.
After bombing two oil facilities within 12 hours, the president listed threats to life and national property security.

In addition to declaring a state of emergency for the river for six months, Tinubu appointed Deputy Admiral Ibokette Ibas (RTD) as the sole administrator of the River State for six months.
Fubara responded to the people of the country, demanding peace and urged them to “keep peace and law-abiding”.
The embattled governor further added that his administration “will face this with wisdom, patience and a firm belief in the democratic process”.

He wrote:
“My dear river man,
“I speak to you today with a deep sense of responsibility and calmness as we have spent this unfortunate moment in the political history of our state.
“All my actions and decisions have been guided by my constitutional oath and a great sense of responsibility since being your governor.
“We prioritize the protection of life and property and ensure the ongoing progress of our dear country.
“Even in the face of a political deadlock, we remain committed to the constitutional order and the rule of law, which makes the interests of our people the most important.
“That is why, after Mr. President intervened in the brokerage peace, we immediately did not hesitate to implement the agreed terms in good faith, including welcoming the committee members who had previously resigned at their own will.
“In addition, we acted promptly to comply with the Supreme Court’s judgment immediately and we received a certified copy of the judgment to restore the country to normal.
“These steps are not for personal gain, but for promoting peace, solidarity and stability in our dear state.
“Unfortunately, at any time, members of the River State Capitol were frustrated by our efforts, thus making real peace and progress difficult.
“Our priorities remain the security of life and property and promote the well-being and prosperity of the people of the river.
“Yes, we have political differences, but good governance continues to pay and great projects are being carried out to move the state forward, and River State is safe, safe and peaceful under our surveillance.
“At this critical moment, I urge all rivers to remain peaceful and law-abiding.
“We have always been a resilient person and we will face this with wisdom, patience and a firm belief in the democratic process.
