The unfortunate incident happened when the mother and her one-year-old were asleep.

A nursing mother and child have been rescued from a firefight in Awolowo, Tucker area, southern Ilorin.

The timely intervention of the Kwara State Fire Department prevented the mother and child from being burned to death.

It happened that when the woman and her one-year-old were swallowed, their children fell asleep quickly.

However, the smoke reminded a Mr Owolabi who reminded other residents of the issue. The voices of the people finally awaken the woman, who escaped from the building with the children.

Chief Fire Officer and Media Director and the promotion of the service, Hassan Adekunle responded to the incident: “On Thursday, March 20, 2025, at about 13:44 hours, the Kwara State Fire Department received an emergency alert about the outbreak of the fire at Aiyegbede Street, Awolowo, Awolowo, Awolowo, Awolowo, Ilorin, Ilorin.

“Firefighters responded immediately upon arrival and quickly began fire operations. The affected structure was a two-panel residential building consisting of three-bedroom apartments and two-bedroom apartments. Fortunately, only the two-bedroom living room was a flat two-bedroom flat that continued to suffer fire damage.

Preliminary investigations show that the fire was initially caused by Mr Owolabi, who immediately reminded other residents. Thanks to their quick response, the sleeping mother and her child were not hurt at the time. The incident can be traced back to the power tide in the region. ”

Although the fire has damaged some properties in most occupants’ rooms, we are grateful that the neighborhood did not have a live broadcast.
