    • Dr. Bosun Tijani, Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, explained that it is necessary to increase tariffs on telecom companies by 50%.
    • Tijani said the decision to increase telecom tariffs was difficult.
    • The minister noted that the federal government has invested 90,000 kilometers of fiber.

Minister of Communications and Digital Economy Dr Bosun Tijani explained that the 50% increase in tariffs for telecom companies was to ensure meaningful access to telecom services for Nigerians.

Tijani said the decision to increase telecom tariffs is difficult, but the government must balance the need to allow businesses to develop sustainably and ensure citizens access to telecommunications services.

According to Tijani, “We have to make sure that when they invest, we can keep them floating. This is a department that employs nearly half a million people in this country, including the value chain.”
