Rivers State Police Department dismissed the report that Nyesom Wike, the Port Harcourt residence of the Federal Capital Territory Secretary (FCT), was attacked and shot by Hoodlums.
Last weekend, some reports surfaced online, claiming that Vick’s residence was besieged and burned by unidentified people. But in a statement released Monday, police public relations official Grace Iringe-Koko described the report as false and misleading.
Iringe-Koko says
“The attention of the River State Police Command has caused a misleading and malicious report that has been circulating on various online media platforms, falsely claiming that riots broke out in River State, leading to the residence of the former governor and current Federal Capital Territory (FCT) (FCT), Nyesom Wike, Nyesom Wike and other acts of violence.”
She stressed that the order had no such record of incidents, and the report was a deliberate attempt to incite unrest and spread fear.
“The order clearly states that this report is completely wrong, unfounded, and a prank manufacturer’s intentional attempt to promote unrest and spread fear among law-abiding residents. There is no record of any such incidents, and normal circumstances are spread across the state. The public is urged to ignore these unfounded claims, which are clearly intended to cause panic and undermine the relative peace and security enjoyed by good people in Rivers.”
Iringe-Koko further warned against spreading false information, noting that those responsible for such behavior would face legal consequences.
“In addition, the Police Commander harshly warns those responsible for spreading this inflammatory falsehood in order to avoid engaging in activities that can incite public obstacles. The full weight of the law will be brought to individuals or groups for committing misinformation or attempting to undermine peace in any form.”
She assured the public the Police Command’s commitment to maintaining the state’s security and urged residents to rely on reliable information to obtain information when reporting any suspicious activities to law enforcement agencies.
