Rivers Governor Rotimi Amaechi claims that the fight between suspended Governor Siminalayi Fubara and Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike is about currency sharing.
Amaech, who served as transport minister in Buhari government, said in an interview with Africa DW Africa on Saturday, March 29.
According to him
“The struggle between the current governor of Rivers State and the FCT minister is about sharing money. If not, what is a quarrel? Nigerians no longer dislike corruption. I haven’t seen anyone on the street asking about the problem. They can both talk to the public and tell us what the problem is?
Now, we are denied democracy. River State is the only state in the country that does not enjoy democracy. They imposed military rule on us.
Secondly, the president’s actions go beyond the Constitution. Article 188 provides for how the governor resigns through death, resignation or impeachment. It doesn’t say that one day you wake up and a person named Nigeria’s president will send you out of the office, which makes democracy unstable. ”
Amach claimed that the president had encountered some help in the situation in the Rivers state because he wanted to exert power by removing the governor who did not support him in the 2027 election.
“Rumors are everywhere, and if any governor is not careful, the president will evacuate you. So the river question is about sharing money and politics in 2027.
If the president says the explosion’s pipeline is the reason why he marked the instability and insecurity of the river by declaring an emergency, what about other parts of the country elsewhere? ”
Did the president say they should impose emergency rules on him? They can’t just be because he is the president of democratic elections. There is a problem of insecurity in the northeast and northwest, and even in the southeast and south.
The governor assumes no responsibility for the pipelines in the river. Security responsibility depends only on the president. Why punish a person who has no crime? ” He said
