A 34-year-old woman and her two young daughters died after jumping into a river in India.
The deceased was identified as Jis Mol Thomas, wife of Jimmy Thonnanmavunkal, as well as their two daughters, Neha, five, and Ponnu, two. The incident occurred at Pulikunnu near Ettumanoor at around 1.30 pm on Tuesday, April 15.
Preliminary reports show that the woman and her children rode a motorcycle to the river bank and entered the river through a bathing high foot.
The incident was exposed when locals noticed a body floating in the water. In subsequent searches, the remaining two bodies were also taken back by local residents.
After receiving the alarm, the police team arrived at the scene and transferred the body for examination.
Jis Mol, who served as the attorney, also served as Vice President of Mutholi Panchayat during 2019-20 years. Preliminary investigation attributes suspicious suicide to marital discord. Jis Mol’s husband runs bus services on the Kottayam -Ayarkunnam route.
An unnatural death case has been registered and further investigation is underway.
