Business owners and others reportedly lost millions of naira due to the explosion of the tanker near Lead City University Road at the end of the Ibadan toll gate on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
Naija News Learning that the explosion occurred at 2:45 pm puts everyone in the affected store in a state of despair.
One of the damaged stores contained millions of dollars in computer equipment, the report said.
Several vehicles and motorcycles were also destroyed in the fire.
At the time of this report, no casualties have been confirmed in the incident.
However, a source revealed that the truck driver and his assistant nearly escaped serious injuries.
Both OYO State Fire Department personnel and federal fire department support are in management and control of the situation.
The owner of an affected store refused to mention her name, telling the country, “I just heard the explosion from outside. Initially, I mistakenly thought it was for gunfire.
“The atmosphere was shrouded in smoke before I realized what was going on.
“Call the fire service. But before they arrived, the deed was completed. I’ve lost everything.
The general manager of Oyo State Fire Department General Manager Akinyinka confirmed the incident and said his men were on the scene.
He said soldiers from the state fire department have been able to inspect the fire to other stores.
