Worship K! ll the young leader of the riverThe former youth leader of the Odhiajie Community is the River State Local Government area in the eastern region of Ahoada, and was considered a member of the Icelandic sect, which is suspected to be worshippers in the early hours of Wednesday, April 9.

Five attackers allegedly rushed into Godpower Uwhetu’s home around 1 a.m., forcibly dragged him outside and shot him in front of his house.

Local sources told Pioneer that the attackers were loyalists of the late cult figure David’s gift, commonly known as 2Baba, whose group was linked to a series of violence in the area. The group was reportedly led by a man identified as Sam, who allegedly led Wednesday’s attack.

Hector Chinem Ekeakita, a resident and former public relations officer at the Igbu Akoh Youth Congress, confirmed the killings and provided the context that led to the deadly shooting. According to Ekeakita, tensions escalated a few days ago when Sam’s mother publicly accused Uwhetu of planning a military raid on his son’s residence. After the confrontation, Uwhetu reportedly hid in hiding, worried about his life.

“Uwetu told his friends that if anything happens to him, Sam should be responsible,” Ekkita said. “This morning, we woke up news of his murder. Sam was one of the 2baba loyalists who narrowly escaped during a security force raid on the base.”

The incident sparked new calls for emergency intervention by security agencies. Ekeakita highlighted the ongoing insecurity in the Kingdom of Igbu Akoh, referring to the recent vandalism in the nearby Odieke-Akoh community where alleged worshippers destroyed property and sun devices.

“We call on the Nigerian police, Nigerian Air Force, the inspector general of the police station and the army units stationed in Aoda to swing their actions before the situation worsens.” “It is necessary to fish these criminals who kidnap hostages of Ekpeye land.”

As of press time, the River State Police Command has not issued a formal statement on the incident. Residents continue to live in fear as violence continues to increase, demanding immediate action to restore peace and order in the community.
