American rapper Yung Miami has accused South African singer Tyra of plagiarizing her song.
The claims come after Tyra previewed her upcoming single “Chanel” on social media on Thursday. Yung Miami claimed that she had previously shared her unreleased song (also titled “Chanel”) with Tyra, who allegedly drew inspiration from it.
The rapper expressed her frustration, revealing that seeing Tyra’s trailer made her feel uneasy. “This girl literally stole my song and I don’t know how to feel about that. Mind you, I played this song for this girl,” Yung Miami said.
When asked by fans, Yung Miami confirmed that her comments were directed at Tyra.
The accusations have sparked new discussions about intellectual property and the interaction of African-American and African artists in the music industry.
As of now, Tyla has not commented on the matter.
