The innocent Nigerian music legend Idibia, renamed 2Baba, expressed his pain for the recent killing of Yelwata in Benue State.
In an emotional video shared on Sunday, June 15, 2025, the award-winning singer struggles to find this sentence to express his sadness and frustration over the ruthless violence that has plagued his hometown.
Talk with his wife Natasha Osawaru,2BABA describes the deterioration of Benue’s security situation as a national emergency. The artist, who recently served as a technical consultant to the Benue State Government, urged state and state leaders to take decisive action immediately.
“Condemnation is not enough,” 2Baba said in the video that there was obvious pain in the wave of violence and killing in Benue. He called on government officials, stakeholders and ordinary Nigerians to unite and find sustainable solutions to end the bloodshed.
His statement was a deadly attack on armed personnel on Friday night, June 13, on the Yelwata community in Guma Local Government Area, which killed more than 200 people, many of whom were internally displaced.
