Serap is seeking a declaration that the NCC’s decision was arbitrary, unfair and unconstitutional.
The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) brought President Bola Tinubu and the Nigeria Communications Commission (NCC) to the recent 50% telecommunications tariff hike.
The suit, filed at the Federal High Court in Abuja, challenged the “arbitrary, unconstitutional, illegal, unfair and unreasonable” decision to increase telecommunications tariffs.
According to Serap, the tariff hike will have a disproportionate impact on citizens’ freedom of expression and access to information.
