Another person was injured after a man ambushed in Kum Village in Riyom Local Government Area, Plateau State.
The victims, Joshua Ezekiel, 48, and Dung Jatau, 51, reportedly took a motorcycle along Riyom to Kum Road around 8:15 pm on Tuesday, April 29, 2025 when they were attacked by armed personnel who opened fire on them.
The injured were taken to Riyom’s General Hospital, where Ezekiel was declared dead when it was announced, said the residents.
Jatau is currently undergoing medical treatment and is said to be in a stable condition.
However, reports show that Jatau succumbed to his injury, but Lib was unable to confirm the development.
Tensions remain high in the area as locals express concern about the safety of rural commuters, especially in the evening. Riyom’s community leaders called for peace and urged residents to remain vigilant.
Meanwhile, efforts are being made to identify and arrest attackers.
Police said they had conducted a lunch investigation into the incident.
