Abia government. Warn developers that three-story buildings without elevators will no longer be approved

The Abia state government warned developers of the building that it will no longer approve the construction of three-story buildings without elevators.

It noted that all floor buildings with three floors must be equipped with elevators. This is to ensure that the buildings under construction in the state are safe, appropriate and habitable for users and owners.

The agency’s general manager Uche Ukeje spoke during the training for personnel in the Building Control Department of the Greater ABA Development Bureau, revealing that the implementation of strict building control measures will eliminate the collapse of buildings and ensure the protection of life and property and the construction of environmentally friendly buildings.

Ukeje was warned by Mr. Enyinnaya Romanus, head of the building control department of Gada, who warned officials of the building control department to ensure that the stage of building projects is monitored and monitored through the stage to promote building standards.

He said; “Before that, nothing is like establishing control in the ABA. Now, the rule is that you have to get certain approvals before you cast the foundation. Then, you come back and we have to check when building to let us know if you follow the approval. We will ensure the stage with stage oversight and surveillance of the construction project. GADA does not allow for keen practices.

“Certain facilities or designs must be installed in a building of some type or you will not be able to obtain further approval. If there is no provision for elevators in any building on three floors, no developer will receive further approval. We must approve your drainage and waste disposal plan or your project will stagnate until you comply with standard practices. The era of developer drainage has disappeared. Any developer who violates any standards will be arrested and prosecuted if he fails to correct the violation within the allowed period. We are not against any developer, but to ensure the building is safe, fit and livable.

“We don’t want to hear buildings crashing and killing people. If you lose property, you know how many millions of dollars will be involved, and you know the economic situation. Gada comes with old ways to improve buildings without standards. We have digitalized operations. No matter your location, you can determine the status of the project. And if we ask you to stop working on the project, you can easily check our platform and find out why.

“We also work with environmental sanitation officials to arrest and prosecute those who damage our environment. We have fully sensitized residents to protect the environment.”
