    Ron Kenoly

Renowned American worship leader, gospel singer and songwriter Ron Kenoly has died at the age of 81, leaving an enduring legacy in contemporary Christian music. His death was confirmed on Kenoli’s official social media channels on February 3, 2026 by his long-time musical director Bruno Miranda. The cause of death has not been publicly disclosed.

Born in Coffeyville, Kansas, on December 6, 1944, Kenoly’s musical journey began early and spanned more than fifty years. After serving in the United States Air Force, he transitioned from secular music to full-time ministry and worship leadership. His breakthrough came with the release of 1992’s Lift Him Up, which became one of the fastest-selling worship albums of its time and cemented his status as a pioneer in modern praise music.

Kenoli’s influence extends far beyond his records. Releasing over 20 albums during his career, his music became a staple in churches around the world. Songs such as “Ancient of Days,” “Jesus Lives,” and “Onward We Go” became enduring worship anthems, sung on every continent and in different church traditions.

As a worship leader and pastor, Kinoli served at Jubilee Christian Center in San Jose, California, and founded Ron Kinoli Ministries, which has influenced worship practices around the world. His emphasis on participatory praise, corporate worship, and theological depth reshaped the way congregations engaged with worship music.

Tributes have poured in from artists, church leaders and fans from around the world, with many highlighting the profound role he played in shaping modern worship. His legacy continues through the countless voices and communities singing the songs he helped popularize and through the worship leaders he mentored.

Kinoli is considered a servant leader whose music and ministry transcend boundaries and inspire generations to worship with joy, sincerity and reverence.
