Apply now; Nigeria police begins recruiting 50,000 police officers

With the approval of President Bola Tinubu, the Police Service Commission (PSC) and the Nigeria Police Force have commenced the recruitment of 50,000 police officers.

In a statement on Thursday, the Commission’s Head of Protocol and Public Affairs, Torty Njoku Kalu, announced that the portal would open on Monday, December 15, 2025, and close on Sunday, January 25, 2026, during which time eligible Nigerians should submit their applications online.

It assured that the work would be carried out in the “most transparent, merit-based and credible manner,” noting that “applications are free of charge as there are no fees required at any stage of the process.”

According to the statement, the committee has approved the opening of the recruitment portal for applications from qualified GCE Ordinary Level, SSCE/NECO or equivalent qualification holders with a minimum of five (5) credits (including English and Mathematics) in not more than two sessions to be recruited to general posts.

The statement explains that applicants for the specialist cadre must hold GCE Ordinary Level, SSCE/NECO or equivalent qualifications and obtain at least four (4) credits (including English and Mathematics) in not more than two courses.

It said a minimum of three (3) years of experience and skills testing in the relevant field/area is required, adding that interested candidates must be Nigerian citizens by birth and must be between 18 and 25 years of age for general positions; 18 to 28 years for specialists.

It also stipulates that applicants must be in good health, physically and mentally.

“Height not less than 1.67m (male) and 1.64m (female) (for general duties only),” it added.
