Five governors from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) are reportedly working with former presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar to weaken PDP and support the 2027 presidential elections of the alliance between Peter Obi and Nasir El-Rufai, according to the Daily Independent.
Former Kaduna Governor El-Rufai is critical of the current government.
Recently, he called for alliances among political parties. Many people think this means he is not going to run under PDP.
Sources said El-Rufai and Atiku have met several times in recent weeks. Their most public meeting was in condolences to the family of late Niger Delta leader Edwin Clark.
