
A teenage girl was lucky enough to be hit by a train near Chegutu in Zimbabwe and lived.
The girl, whose name was not yet revealed, was walking along the railway line at the time of the accident. She was reportedly wearing headphones.
Zimbabwe National Railway (NRZ) confirmed the incident, saying: “A teenage girl was injured after being hit by a train near Cagetutu. The girl was walking along the railway line when the accident happened.”
“The girl was taken to Cagetutu Regional Hospital for treatment. NRZ wants her to recover quickly and issue a safety warning urging the public to avoid wearing headphones near railway tracks. “We urge the public to always be on high alert and not wear headphones when they are near the track,” NRZ said.
The incident comes after a fatal train accident in Gwen in 2023, Agatha Tadokera was killed while walking near the track and wearing headphones. NRZ calls for awareness raising, stressing that such accidents should be avoided to protect public safety.
