Guardiola insists Liverpool can’t break Manchester City’s Premier League record

Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola stressed that Liverpool, who currently ranks 57 points in 24 games, cannot beat Manchester City’s scoring record.

Despite being 16 points behind Liverpool, which ranked seventh in pursuit of the 20th championship, Guardiola is still proud of what his team has achieved in recent years.

Guardiola has criticized the team’s performance given the current struggle, especially after defeating Real Madrid 3-2 in the Champions League playoffs.

He pointed to the importance of the record set during a successful campaign, especially from the landmark 100-point record for the 2017-2018 season, when City won one of Guardiola’s six Premier League titles for the first time.

Guardiola emphasized the growing nature of the Premier League, noting that “We have set the standard in England. In modern football, 100 points is a huge challenge, especially in competitive teams where Bournemouth, Fulham and the Wolves are struggling to succeed.”

Guardiola is acknowledging that Liverpool may not exceed the city’s total in the season, but he recognizes the tough competition within the league and the progress of each team. He also admitted that City did not meet high standards this season due to injury issues and player fatigue.

Guardiola pointed out the major changes in the league, saying, “The difference is significant. The team is more prepared than ever. This season has taught us important lessons about resilience and consistency.”

Despite the challenges, Guardiola stressed the importance of accepting the current situation. “This is the first time many of us have experienced this position. We must realize that the achievements we have achieved in the past are extraordinary and do not reflect norms” He said.

Meanwhile, Guardiola admits that unlike previous seasons, Manchester City has been working hard to use its property. “While I accept that the opponent may suffer when he has the ball, we are facing difficulties now. This is a situation we are working to resolve and we know the path forward involves adjusting and overcoming these obstacles.”
