    • Nigerian pop star, Olamide Adedeji has opened up about his relationship with former YBNL artiste, Asake.
    • In 2024, Asake fueled rumors of leaving YBNL by unfollowing all brand partners and deactivating his Instagram account.
    • Asak’s absence from the concert organized by Olamide further fueled speculation about his departure.

Nigerian pop star, Olamide Adedeji has spoken about his relationship with former YBNL artiste, Ahmed Ololad, popularly known as Asake.

In 2024, Asake unfollowed everyone associated with YBNL and deactivated his Instagram account, sparking rumors of leaving the brand. He also missed a concert organized by Olamide that year, sparking speculation about his departure. At the time, neither Asak nor Olamide commented publicly on the matter.

In a recent interview with BBC Africa, Olamide finally addressed Asek’s exit and stressed that their ties remain strong. He described their connection as a family one and stressed that business decisions do not affect the personal relationship. Olamide calls Asake his brother, noting that he has had similar relationships with others who have left the brand.

He said, “We are still a family. He will always be my brother. The business ends but life goes on; it was never personal. It applies to everyone who leaves.”

At the upcoming show at OVO Arena, Wembley on Sunday, November 23, 2025, Olamide teased a high-energy show, describing it as a “London Lagos style party”.

Olamide also shared how he manages the business and creative aspects of his career. He explains that having his team involved in business matters allows him to focus more on his music and creativity. The star, who recently celebrated Seyi Tinubu’s birthday, admitted that balancing the two aspects is not easy but credited his team for helping him maintain such focus.

@bafemiplus: “Wish him success at his OVO Arena show on Sunday. Incidentally, his son Adekunle Gold is also playing a headline show at London’s Royal Festival Hall on the same day.”
