Controversial social media personality Saida Boj has once again caused an uproar online after questioning why a “nice” man would drive a Toyota Corolla.
In a viral video, Saida Boy tells how she spotted a handsome man with tattoos driving what she calls a “toy car” and says she can’t keep her thoughts to herself.
“How does one drive a Corolla? I was driving yesterday and I saw a handsome guy in the car who looked nice and had nice tattoos. Let me see if he drives a Corolla. Why are you driving a Corolla? You’d better put the toy car on the road and drive it,” she said.
Her comments immediately sparked discussion on social media. Many Nigerians accuse her of car-shaming and promoting materialism, arguing that a person’s worth should not be judged by the type of car they drive.
Some netizens also expressed concern that such remarks would add unnecessary pressure to young people. One commenter wrote: “To be handsome now you have to drive a Mercedes?”
Another added, “This mentality forces young people to commit fraud. Don’t rest.”
In other news, Nigerian musician and activist Seun Kuti has called for a revolution among Nigerian workers, highlighting the disparity between wages and the cost of living.
Kuti took to social media to highlight the plight faced by many staff, noting that some earn as little as £200,000 a month while landlords charge £500,000 to £600,000 a month in rent. He called the situation unfair and urged Nigerians to demand higher wages and improved living conditions.
Kuti’s statement sparked discussions online about wage inequality, housing costs and the need for systemic reforms to protect workers’ rights.
