Nigerian singer Oludipe David, popularly known as Spyro, talks about how his fear of failure and his father’s negative comments about him affected his childhood.

The singer recalled that his father was difficult for him, often resorting to negative remarks while correcting him. He said this caused him to internalize his fear and begin to accept that he would “fail” at some point.

He explained that he had poor grades in secondary school and even doubted whether he would be able to complete his degree program after being admitted due to Atichipia’s psychological impact.

In a candid interview with veteran media personality Frank Edoho, Spyro shared that he thought he was going to die. “I thought I was going to die. he recalled.

The music star said he was able to overcome his fear of failure after developing a personal relationship with God. He also shared that he was on the verge of giving up music and had ventured into interior design before his breakthrough song hit 2022.

Spyro gained prominence after Your Man became an internet sensation. A 2023 remix with Tiwa Savage solidified his star. Later that year, the song won Best Collaboration at the 16th Headies Awards.
