    • Aisha Yesufu has warned Peter Obi not to accept the vice-presidency in 2027, insisting she will oppose any election in which he is not the presidential candidate.
    • She insists Obi remains the most qualified candidate and should not be relegated to a supporting role.

ADC chairperson and socio-political activist Aisha Yesufu has warned Labor Party’s 2023 presidential candidate Peter Obi not to accept the vice-presidential position in the 2027 general elections.

In a video circulating on social media, Yesouf vowed to oppose any presidential bid with Obi as his running mate. She believes the former Anambra State governor is the most qualified among the potential contenders and should be the presidential flag-bearer, not his deputy.

“I promise you. If Peter Obi becomes anyone’s running mate, I will oppose that ticket.”

“In my small power, even if I don’t support any other candidate, I will fight against them. Why do we always ask for the best to be second?” she said.

In other news… Former world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua is seriously considering retiring from boxing, according to his uncle Adedamola Joshua, following a tragic car accident in Nigeria that killed two of his close friends and team members.

In an exclusive interview with PUNCH during a visit to his home in Sagamu, Adedamola revealed that the 36-year-old boxer communicated the decision privately to his family.

“The most important thing is that he has retired from boxing. That is something that makes us happy,” said his uncle.
“Every time he fights in the ring, we always get emotional… It’s too traumatic for us. Now he’s saying he’s going to leave when the applause is the highest, and we’re happy.”

When asked if Joshua had informed his family personally, he confirmed:

    “Yes.”

Joshua suffered only minor injuries in a fatal accident near Lagos last week, while his strength coach Sina Gami and personal trainer Latif “Lazi” Ayodele were killed after their SUV collided with a stationary truck on the Lagos-Ibadan highway.

Joshua pledged lifelong support to the family and later broke his silence on Instagram, posting a photo and caption of the deceased’s relatives “My brother’s keeper.”

A source from his camp told The Sun:

“AJ was fiercely loyal to his friends and their families and will remain with them throughout their lives.”

Joshua also attended an emotional funeral at London’s Central Mosque on Sunday.

Meanwhile, the Ogun State Police said the driver of the vehicle, Adeniyi Kayode, has been charged with multiple offences, including dangerous driving causing death. The case was adjourned to January 20.

Joshua was on vacation in Nigeria after defeating Jake Paul in Miami on December 19.
