Nigerian rapper Olamide Adedeji, popularly known as “Olamide” has shared his insights on achieving success in the music industry, stressing the importance of understanding your audience.

The ‘Homegrown Rapper’ hitmaker revealed he is proud to be a local artist and is not looking for international recognition.

In a recent interview with BBC Radio 1Xtra, Olamide said he has no plans to change his sound or adapt his style to suit Western audiences, noting that staying true to his roots remains his top priority.

“You have to identify your audience. Once you identify your audience, eventually the rest of the world will catch up. So, I have to stay true to myself, no matter where it is, whatever it is, I mean, in the world, I have to stay true to myself.

“I’m comfortable in my own skin. I’m a Naija, Yoruba boy, I have H-Factor and all that, and I’m proud of it. You just have to stay true to yourself,” he said.

In other news… A Nigerian man’s actions have attracted widespread attention after he revealed how he recovered £10,000 in transport money sent to a woman who blocked him immediately after receiving the money.

The man, who goes by the name @olamilekan00007, shared the story on X (formerly Twitter), explaining that he sent money for the woman’s transportation expenses through OPay, but she immediately blocked him.

Not giving up, he contacted OPay’s customer support and showed proof of the transaction, including payment receipts. After reviewing his complaint, OPay investigated the case and refunded his money.

He was delighted with the result and expressed his gratitude to the platform, writing: “Almighty Allah will bless me with this OPay. We are charging traffic please stop me. E dear my beauty.”

His clever move impressed many social media users, who took to the comments to ask how he managed to get his money back. Others praised OPay’s quick response and customer service.
