    • A Nigerian man chose to stay outside a church during the night vigil rather than attend indoors.
    • The incident was captured in a viral TikTok video on the account @ojugo_1.
    • Video shows him socializing with friends outside while other worshipers were inside the church.

A Nigerian man recently gained attention online for choosing to stay outside a church during a night vigil rather than attend indoor services.

The incident was shared in a video on his TikTok account @ojugo_1, which went viral. In the video, he stands outside with friends while other worshipers sit inside the church.

The man explained that he preferred to stay outside as a precaution against potential bandit attacks. He pointed to the church’s fence and gate, pointing out that he could quickly exit through them if necessary.

The title of the video is as follows: “So we have a church vigil like this. Oh, I go outside. I go outside.”

The post comes shortly after the tragic attack on a church in Kwara State. On Tuesday, November 18, 2025, gunmen attacked the Christ Apostolic Church in Eruku during evening services, killing three worshipers and injuring many others.

After the attack, the pastor and some congregants were kidnapped. A church official reported that 38 members had been kidnapped and the attackers demanded a ransom of 100 million naira each. Witnesses described the attackers as bandits who emerged from nearby bushes, fired sporadically and fled when police and local vigilante groups arrived.
