IMO State Government Ban Nursery, JSS 3 Graduation Party

Worried about financial pressure on parents and guardians during nurseries and junior high school graduation parties, the IMO state government has banned such activities to enable them to focus on their children’s academic development.

Professor Bernard Ikegwuoha, the IMO State Education Commissioner, revealed this in a memorandum published to parents, guardians and stakeholders in the education department over the weekend. Ikegwuoha also instructed school owners to stop changing textbooks every year to enable siblings to use it as it financially drains the financial levels of parents and guardians every year.

Commissioner in the letter dated August 15, 2025, reference number MOEPS/Commr/2025/vol. 1/155, titled “IMO State’s Public and Private Education and Secondary Education Policy” says the new policy comes into effect immediately. According to him, the measure is to promote a more centralized and effective education system in the IMO state with the goal of benefiting students, parents and the public.
