    • Isaac Fayose has criticized plans to roll back electoral reforms, questioning why the government is abandoning systems such as BVAS after spending nearly a trillion naira on electoral reforms.

Isaac Fayose has questioned the Nigerian government’s stance on electoral reform and expressed concern over attempts to remove key components of the voting process despite significant financial investment.

Speaking on the issue, Fayose recalled that billions of naira were spent on electoral reforms in 2019. He added that based on the recommendations of former President Goodluck Jonathan, further reforms were introduced in 2023, including the adoption of the Dual-Mode Voter Authentication System (BVAS) and electronic voting schemes. According to him, an additional £359 billion was reportedly spent on this phase.

Fayose wonders why the authorities want to abandon reforms that have cost the country nearly a trillion naira. He accuses policymakers of deliberately sabotaging the system and believes the debate around electronic voting is manipulated through semantics.

“In 2019, they spent billions on electoral reform. In 2023, Jonathan said let’s adopt BVAS, let’s have electronic voting, and they spent £359 billion again. Why do they want to abandon reforms that they spent nearly a trillion pounds on? We all know what they are doing. They say it’s just transmission and transfer, we are here to correct the English.” Fayose said.

“In 2019, they spent billions on electoral reform, and in 2023, Jonathan said let’s adopt BVAS, let’s do electronic voting, they spent another $359 billion, why do they want to abandon a reform that cost nearly a trillion dollars? In other news… Nollywood film producer Stanley Ontop remains unmoved after colleague Frederick Leonard filed a defamation suit against him.

Leonard shared a screenshot of the lawsuit on Instagram, accusing Stanley of defaming his reputation for more than two years. According to the lawsuit, Stanley allegedly made multiple baseless accusations that damaged Leonard’s integrity and resulted in significant loss of revenue. Leonard warned that the law would take its course and urged Stanley to provide evidence for any charges.

He wrote: “Mr. STANLEY CHIBUEZE AJEMBA aka STANLEY ON TOP. stanleyontop_news You’ve been served!

The law will have its full effect.

You go first and others will follow…

If you claim or accuse, you must prove it with evidence and I will come for you”.

In response, Stanley Ontop dismissed the lawsuit and said he was prepared to face legal action. He also suggested he was awaiting an invitation from police and made light-hearted remarks in an Instagram post, showing no fear or concern about the matter.

“The film lever is too red.”
    See you in court!
Is Ogun going to kill you?
No, you think you are the petitioner, not Stanley Ontop. Ezzi Ofia
