The gunman suspected to be a kidnapper, there were two people and kidnapped a popular businessman, Chief Adepegba Bankole, also known as Ade Bendel of Ilara Town in the Imeko-Afon local government area of Ogun State.
The gunmen attacked the community at around 11 p.m. Wednesday, April 30, 2025 and occasionally began shooting.
The town’s monarch spoke on a punch Thursday, and Oba Mutiu Adedimeji revealed that two people were kidnapped in the attack!
He narrated that the gunman fled to the Republic of Benin after kidnapping the merchant and abandoned the victim’s vehicles along the road path.
“Yes, the incident happened. They kidnapped Ade Bendel yesterday (Wednesday) and killed two people in the attack. Some were able to find his vehicle in Sabe, the Republic of Benin, which means it was their escape route.”
Anonymous because of the nature of the incident, a young leader in the community told the publication that the gunman dragged the merchant to his hotel before sporadic shooting.
The young leader pointed out that the allegedly shot was hit by a vagabond, k! lith two, including an employee of the hotel.
“Around 11pm last night, some gunmen kidnapped Ade Bendel.
Another resident, simply called the ADE, told our reporter that some people were injured while trying to escape due to the sound of gunfire.
He narrated that the community has been in panic since the incident.
“The incident happened. The gunshots we heard made people panic. Two ladies were injured after falling into a ditch while trying to escape.”
