    • Norwegian club FK Molde has suspended 18-year-old Nigerian midfielder Daniel Daga after he was formally charged under Norwegian law over sexual assault charges.
    • The incident was reported in April 2025 and the club banned him from all football activities pending the trial. Duggar, through his lawyers, has denied the allegation, insisting the encounter was consensual and court proceedings will begin in March 2026.

Norwegian side Molde FK have officially suspended 18-year-old Nigerian midfielder Daniel Daga after he was formally charged over sexual assault allegations. The former Eagles star is accused of committing sexual acts without consent, violating section 297 of the Norwegian Penal Code.

The incident was first reported to police in April 2025. Following the prosecution, the club banned Daga from all training and competitive activities “for the foreseeable future”.

Molde Football Club chairman Oded Ivar Moeen stressed the seriousness of the situation and noted the pressure such cases put on the community.

“We have experienced before how demanding these types of cases can be… this is a matter of a serious nature and we take the indictment with the utmost seriousness,” Moen said, adding that the club’s aim was to “respect and provide a fair process for those affected”.

Duggar’s lawyer, Astrid Bolstad, categorically denies the accusations. While admitting a sexual encounter took place, she insisted it was completely consensual.

“My client has pleaded not guilty and believes he did nothing illegal,” Bolstad said. “There is no suspicion of violence or threats. He looks forward to the court hearing the case so he can clear his name.”

Daga joined Molde from FC ONE Rocket in January 2025 and recently represented Nigeria at the FIFA U-20 World Cup and is currently on holiday in Nigeria. However, the club confirmed arrangements have been made for him to return to Norway for a trial.

Legal proceedings are scheduled to begin in March 2026 at the Nordmoor and Rumsdal District Courts.
