Ogun pastor sounds alarm, says DSS is trying to track or kidnap him for criticizing Governor Abiodun

    • Pastor Olawoye Kayode of the Zion Church in Ijoko, Ogun State, has accused DSS operatives of trying to spy on or possibly kidnap him after he became a vocal critic of the administration of Governor Dapo Abiodun.
    • He said two men claiming to be from DSS came to his church looking for his whereabouts and later told him the invitation was for a “familiarization meeting” with the new boss.
    • Kayode insisted that any formal subpoena must be formally documented and called the informal approach suspicious. He reiterated his willingness to accept legitimate written invitations and vowed not to be intimidated.

Pastor Olawoye Kayode of the Zion Church in Ijoko, Ogun State has sounded the alarm, claiming that operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) are trying to secretly monitor and possibly kidnap him due to his continued criticism of the administration of Governor Dapo Abiodun.

In a video released on Thursday, Kayode claimed that four days ago, two men claiming to be DSS officers of the Abeokuta command attacked his church inquiring about his whereabouts.

When he later contacted the numbers left by the men, he learned the invitations were for a “familiarization meeting” with the new boss.

“One of the guys said he was a DSS officer and they had a new boss transferred to Ogun State and he wanted to meet me for a ‘familiarization meeting’. I asked him why. He said, ‘Oh, you are becoming a stakeholder in Ogun State,'” Kayode said.

The cleric insists he was advised by his lawyers and senior church leaders that any DSS invitation must be formal and documented.

“I represent the Christian community in Ogun State, which makes up nearly 70 per cent of our population, and I also represent the grassroots suffering that is being suffered by this government. I was clearly told by my father of faith and my lawyer that if DSS wants to invite you, they must send a formal letter,” he said.

When he asked for the letter, the official claimed there was “no problem,” a response Kayode interpreted as a red flag. “If you say there is no problem, then there is a problem.” he said.

Kayode accused Abiodun’s government of failing the country with crumbling infrastructure, insisting he would honor any legitimate invitation but only with proper documentation.

He declared: “I am not afraid of anyone. If DSS wants me, they should write… We will not give in to intimidation.”
