Pastor Kingsley Okonkwo has sparked widespread debate online after sharing his views on the “shortage of quality talent” in Nigeria.

The pastor, known for his teachings on relationships, shared his views on modern relationships in an article on his X page.

He started with a statement that immediately caught people’s attention:

“Ladies and gentlemen, we have a crisis! I am very concerned about the quality of men right now.”

In his post, Pastor Okonkwo expressed concern over the widening quality gap between men and women, arguing that this makes it more difficult for women to find a solid man suitable for marriage.

He also claimed that many men today struggle with leadership and responsibility, adding that “a lot of the men he sees are unable to lead or marry the women of this generation.”

The pastor noted that social changes have increased the demands placed on men in modern relationships, sparking wider discussions about standards and roles online.

He also discussed the structure of marriage, stating that there are three types of marriage, which he described as God’s original design. Pastor Okonkwo stressed that cultural marriages were once prevalent in Africa, saying such marriages were effective because women had limited access to education and most were unemployed.

He added that men often marry with a large age gap, which in his view makes them more susceptible to submission. Acknowledging that times have changed, he writes that things are now tougher for men of this generation and concludes that many women may not be able to find a suitable man to marry.

    See the post below:

I am very concerned about the quality of men now…

I’m willing to correct you, but it seems that the quality gap between men and women is getting bigger and bigger, and it’s getting harder and harder to find a reliable man.

Read some of the comments below:

@uchasage: “Is this person a missionary or a relationship mechanism?”

@Chenemi_Abraham: “As a pastor in the age of social media, you have no choice but to side with women. That’s where the crowd is. We’ve got it. Let powerful women marry themselves. Case closed.”

@nana_aboagye11 asked: “Because men don’t want to be stupid? Or what exactly?”

@xhakazulu14: “This generation only cares about money. Those who prefer crying in a Lamborghini to laughing in a Cork are not looking for a good man, but a man who owns a Lamborghini. Those who say ‘I will marry for money because I don’t want to drive a Cork while pregnant or having a baby’ are not looking for a good man. Next time, express your opinion in more detail.”

@zenmagafrica: “What is your definition of a reliable 🇳🇬 man? Countries from Poland to Zimbabwe are rushing to marry our men but you still say they are unreliable 😕 I don’t see countries rushing our women but somehow that never comes up in your argument.”

@wilson_chnns: “Let’s be clear, stop using metaphors. Define a reliable man, is it the guy who buys lunch before collecting data? Or the guy who rents a house for his girlfriend’s relatives?”

@optimist_sir: “Every program is about empowering girls. How about empowering boys?”

@DennizDream: “Stop pretending this is a one-sided shortage. There is a lack of responsibility on both sides. Men avoid responsibility, women avoid self-reflection. Everyone wants perfection, but no one wants to improve. This is a real lack of responsibility.”

@majorlouwe: “So you’re a motivational speaker and instead of finding a better job, you classify yourself as a reliable person???”
