Chelsea defender Wesley Fofana is the latest player to be racially abused in and after football.

The French defender was abused by some supporters of Arsenal Football Club during Sunday, March 16, 2025. Wesley Fofana shared screenshots of some insults introduced to him via social media.

Fofana calls for change and also calls on social media platforms to take action against those in charge.

    He said

In 2025, stupidity and cruelty can no longer be hidden. It’s not just football; it’s more than a ‘game’ when some people think their skin color makes them superior to others. Now it’s time to change things, the platform takes action, and everyone takes responsibility.”

What is the comment on the Premier League’s racial abuse of Wesley Fofana?

The Premier League said they were disappointed with the abuse suffered by Fofana and they will work with social media platforms and authorities to ensure that individuals convicted of guilt are punished.

“The Premier League has been shocked by the abuse suffered by Chelsea’s Wesley Fofana after the Premier League match against Arsenal. We will provide full support to Wesley and the Wesley and Club. We work with social media platforms and authorities to ensure that anyone who encounters abuse faces the greatest consequences. Football does not discriminate against everyone.

This is the second time Fofana is directly or indirectly affected, he will make a racial comment.
