The House Public Petition Committee convened Hyacinth Alia and Dauda Lawal in Benue and Zamfara, respectively, as well as leaders of the convention building in the two states, to appear on the committee on Thursday, May 8.
This was disclosed in a statement signed on Friday by media director Chooks Oko.
The executive and legislative branches of the two states will appear before the committee to explain why the House should not take over their constitutional functions due to insecurity.
According to the statement, the subpoena is a sequel to a petition written by civil rights groups, the Guardian of Democracy and the rule of law that urged the House to take over the functions of the two parliament buildings.
The subpoena signed by the committee chairman Mike Etaba himself pointed out that the invited parties were aware of the facts of the case.
“Our is to ensure that the rule of law is always maintained. The parties have an excellent opportunity to clearly state their case so that Nigerians know what is going on. In our polity, there is no way to give anarchy.”
