A market survey on Thursday showed that the 50 kg bags previously sold were sold for 85,000 –₦90,000 and now ranged from 56,000 –₦62,000.
The news sparked some supporters of President Bra Tinub, who praised his administration. On X, @unclepamilerin wrote: “The price of rice has finally dropped and the minimum wage is now available to buy a bag. Step by step, we get there. Nigeria will work throughout our lives.”
Another user @mz_tosyn added: “I said the rice is 57k, and in the 🤦🏰♀️ I mentioned, people are still arguing. I bought 3 bags yesterday and with someone who is still collecting the allowance.”
However, critics argue that rice is still expensive compared to previous years, and it is too early to see the celebration.
