- Media personality and Arise News anchor Rufai Oseni has commented on the emergence of the country boy movement.
- The Country Boys movement was a response to the City Boys movement, which was supported by prominent businessmen such as the Cuban chief and Obi Cubana.
- The City Boys movement is reportedly led by Seyi Tinubu, son of the current president.

Media personality and Arise News anchor Rufai Oseni was involved in the rise of the country boys movement, which was a response to the urban boys movement backed by some of Cuba’s top clerics and prominent businessmen such as Obi Cubana.
The City Boys Movement, led by the president’s son Seyi Tinubu, was reported to have previously received support from the two businessmen.
During a live discussion on Arise News, Oseni shared his thoughts on the country boys movement. He describes the City Boys movement as “delusional” if it assumes that financial resources alone determine political outcomes.
Oseni stressed that money was not the decisive factor in the last election and did not expect money to determine the outcome of future elections. He stressed that relying solely on currency’s influence in politics is a misconception and that the upcoming elections will reveal the true impact of such strategies and expose any irregularities if they occur.
The anchor also pointed out that those who still believe that money controls everything in politics have the right to hold this view.
Oseni’s remarks sparked discussion online. Some users suggested that the current administration might direct funds toward urban boys sports, pointing to budget allocations as potential evidence. Others sided with Oseni, praising his stance while criticizing Ruben Abati for appearing to support the City Boys movement.
