Ondo Monarch, 22, warns public to stop calling me 'brother' or 'blood relative'

this The Aluhale-Ojim Palace of Okulus Kingdom in Ondo State has issued a stern warning to the public against disrespectful remarks directed at the 22-year-old traditional ruler, Oba Oloyede Adekoya Akinhale II.

In a statement issued on behalf of the Palace on Friday, the Chief of Staff to the Sovereign, Prince Adefemi Olorunfemi stressed that, The King must be strictly addressed at all times as “His Royal Majesty” and it is noted that any deviation from this title will no longer be tolerated.

According to him, Some people call the monarch “brother or Blood“Especially disrespectful to him.

The statement read: “I am writing this letter in my capacity as Prince Adefemi Michael Olorunfemi, Chief of Staff, Arugale-O Island, Okluse Kingdom, Ondo State, to address an important matter that requires public attention. Please note that Alayelua Oba Oloyed Adekoya Akinhale II shall at all times be addressed strictly as His Majesty the King.”

“Any other form of address is unacceptable. In fact, His Majesty is the youngest king in yoruba land Disrespect of any kind will not be tolerated.

“Use words such as “Bro, ‘blood,” or any casual or derogatory expression are highly inappropriate and will no longer be tolerated. We will take strong and decisive measures against such actions. His Majesty’s magnanimity and calm disposition should not be mistaken for weakness or permission to do the wrong thing. Especially for those who call themselves Yoruba, we should know better. Culture, tradition and respect for legal authority are values that we must always uphold.

“No matter your identity, age or social status, the King must be respected. This is non-negotiable. His Majesty is more than our father; he is Igbakji Awon Orissa, the representative of the gods on earth. The throne he occupies is sacred, and respecting the throne is respecting our heritage and identity as a people.”

The palace appealed to the residents and public of Okoluth Kingdom to always uphold the dignity of the throne, stressing that respect for the monarch remains central to the preservation of Yoruba culture and tradition.

“We urge everyone within and outside the Kingdom of Oculus to behave accordingly and uphold the dignity of the Palace and His Majesty the King himself. Respect for the throne is non-negotiable,” the statement added.

Oba Akinghare inherited the throne of his ancestors at the age of 16, when he was still a secondary school student.

The throne fell to him as the only son of the town’s monarch’s late father’s four children.

Due to the traditional rules of the ancient town, the eldest son should automatically inherit the throne after the death of the monarch. The young man has no choice but to become the traditional ruler of the ancient town.

The town’s kingmakers had no hesitation in declaring the teenager the new traditional ruler of Okolu and the state government clearly approved the choice of the people of the town.
