
A wave of terror has swept through Kwara State following the full revelation of the massacre in Kiama Local Government Area on Tuesday night. While initial reports suggested 75 people died, local lawmakers and the Red Cross now confirm that at least 162 people, and possibly more than 200, were brutally massacred in the Woro and Nuku communities.
The attacks began around 5:30 pm on February 3 and lasted for nearly 10 hours, carried out by hundreds of gunmen on motorcycles.
“Execution phase”
According to harrowing eyewitness accounts, the attacker is suspected to be Lakurava or Boko Haram Extremist groups round up young people and families, tie their hands behind their backs and execute them at close range.
The motivation is very clear: instill. The militants had previously sent warning letters to villages demanding they adopt radical Islamic law. When the residents of Woro and Nuku refused to give up their beliefs and way of life, the gunmen returned to “punish” the communities.

FG Response: Shettima and Troops Move In
In response to the massacre, President Bola Tinubu has deployed a comprehensive army camp Heading to Kiama under Operation Savannah Shield. Vice President Qasim Shettima led a high-level delegation to the state on Saturday, promising “all hands on deck” to secure the border with Benin Republic.
